Where the Double-Double came from
Introduced 1948
In-N-Out was founded in 1948 in Baldwin Park, California, and the core menu is still just three burgers — hamburger, cheeseburger and Double-Double — plus fries, drinks and shakes. A Double-Double is two patties and two slices of cheese.
- Animal Style means the patty is cooked in a thin layer of mustard, then finished with pickles, grilled onions and extra spread. Animal Style fries get two slices of melted cheese, spread and grilled onions.
- Protein Style replaces the bun with lettuce, and In-N-Out publishes the figures for it — which is why it appears in the table below.
